Movement of goods in North America is changing. For trucking, there is growth in regional haul, which is where trucks and their drivers remain in a certain geographic area and the freight and most often the trailers go further distances. The North American Council for Freight Efficiency has been working to better understand this change and Run on Less Regional operates from October 7th to the 25th and will conclude during the week of the NACV Show. The goals are to better understand the growing segment of shorter more dedicated routes of trucks in the middle mile of e-commerce, determine the efficiency of the best of the best fleets in this sector and understand the technologies and driver habits that delivered the high levels of efficiency. Ten drivers operating their trucks and trailers will be tracked via a dashboard of key result metrics. Come hear from NACFE on the changes to more regional movement of goods, the metrics surrounding this sector and the potential to improve driver attraction, satisfaction and retention as well as the opportunities of alternative powertrains including electric trucks.
